Meet Muffin, the fox cub made famous on the BBC's One Show

One of the most hotly debated topics on the BBC's One Show so far has been urban foxes – some people encourage them into their gardens, others despise them. Steve Harty contacted The One Show to tell his remarkable fox story…

Steve found a young, injured fox near his home in Wales. After taking it to the vet, it was thought the fox was not well enough to be released back into the wild and no animal welfare association could take the young fox on. So Steve decided to take it home and raise it as part of the family! The fox has now been fully domesticated and plays in the front room with Steve’s cat and dog. He’s had all his jabs just like a dog and even travels to work with Steve.

Although the fox is doing well and fits into the household like any pet, neither Steve nor Ellie, the One Show's presenter would recommend domesticating foxes – they are wild animals and shouldn’t become pets, also, they chew everything in sight!
